The school was identified as a Beacon school in 1998 and 2001 and the school's 2008 GCSE results showed 78% of pupils attained 5 or more top (A*-C) grades[2]. The school was granted Technology College status in 2002 allowing more vocational GCSE courses to be available, such as Leisure and Tourism and Health & Social Care.[3] The school is currently under the 'leadership' of Mr A Smith BEd MA. The school is a feeder school for Godalming College.
The school is currently competing for the national green flag which is the highest achievable award for eco schools to get this award the school has to have solar panels, no litter, a clean and tidy environment with an outdoor woodland garden.
In January 2007, Ofsted reported after an inspection, that the school was satisfactory. For the separate topics of inspection, the school received good and satisfactory grades. The report stated "Academic guidance is inconsistent and does not always give individuals enough information about how to improve their work and achieve higher standards."[4] The school responded by adding a Attitude to Learning (ATL) grading system.
In a recent Ofsted Inspection that was carried out in December 2009, Rodborough was recognised as providing 'an outstanding education for its pupils', with attainment above average. This is a improvement on the previous grade and Ofsted also commented that the behaviour at the school was outstanding, with pupils having a good contribution to school and community life.[5]
Rodborough is well known for its contribution in sporting leagues and cups. Rodborough strongly competes in football, rounders, cricket, netball and rugby. Rodborough is also a main competer in events such as the Mayors Challenge. Rodborough also won district sports in 2010.
